Pavilion/ Exhibition Design

Liminal is a competition winning entry to design and construct an arts pavilion for the annual Hong Kong arts music and culture festival - Clockenflap, under the theme of “Cosmic and Communal”. Artists were invited to explore aspects of human experience and our relationship with the universe. Our intention was to explore the themes of mythology and science, the micro and the macro, nature and technology - to deliver an installation which was contemplative, aspirational and light-hearted. We aimed to create a structure which would provide an experience without scale, in direct contrast to Hong Kong - a mega-city in which one is constantly surrounded by people, where one can be outside but not see the horizon. Liminal is a reaction to this. We sought to present visitors with an intensely individual experience in a space without boundary.
